We are pleased to offer the following courses;

  • Contemporary Ballet Course - 2/3 Years Full Time
  • Dance Performance Course -2/3 Years Full Time
  • ISTD Teachers Training Course/PDTC- 2/3 Years Full/Part Time
  • Bespoke Foundation Course
  • Each course is prescriptive to meet the needs of today’s dancer. However there is slight flexibility in some areas of the course regarding the individuals previous experience and prior academic qualifications. This will be identified during the application and audition process.


    Admissions

    Applicants for the Centre Pointe Vocational Diploma and the one year Foundation Course should be sixteen years of age before September 1st of the enrolment year.

    Candidates for all courses are expected to have received prior dance training, and must be successful in the College audition which assesses potential skills in ballet, contemporary and singing, alongside a formal interview which will assess their potential for a career in the performing arts field.

    Centre Pointe welcomes applications from all candidates who show the dedication and aptitude to meet our expectations. For those with a special need, we require you to inform us of this on your application form. This will allow us to arrange to meet this need at audition and adapt our programmes accordingly should you be successful in gaining a place.

    Funding

    Centre Pointe Vocational College is an independent College, however if assistance is required funding/bursaries may be offered based on individual financial circumstances. Alternatively a payment scheme can also be organised to split the total amounts paid into equal instalments.

    Course Details

    Length of course: 3 Years full time
    Entry Age: 16+
    Entry Requirements: Entry is by audition and interview
    Current Fees: £6000 per annum


    Course Aims and Objectives:

    The course includes in depth technical training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Jazz (Commercial and Traditional), Modern, Pilates, Singing and Drama techniques. They will work towards specific performance projects each term and will undertake several research projects to engage their theoretical knowledge of dance and theatre with their practical skills. Students will also partake in master classes and workshops from guest lecturers to enhance their awareness of the current industry. Students will focus not only on performance but also on creative practice and teaching skills giving them many career opportunities in the performing arts profession.

    DDI / DDE ISTD Teacher Training Ballet / Tap / Modern
    RAD / ISTD Vocational Examinations Ballet / Tap / Modern

    Career Progression:

    Upon graduation our course will enable students to progress into careers in the Performing Arts, or alternatively it will give the required qualifications to lead onto further training.
    Length of course: 2/3 Years part time
    Entry Age: 16+
    Entry Requirements: Entry is by audition and interview

    Course Aims and Objectives:

    The course is defined by the ISTD and trains young teachers in the ISTD syllabi in order to gain the DDI and DDE qualifications successively.

    Level 3 Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI)

    Entry criteria: 17 years of age within the year registered

    Career Progression:

    Upon graduation our course will enable students to progress into careers in dance teaching in vocational and non-vocational schools. Students who wish to teach in state education will need to further their training in order to gain their PGCE or an alternative teaching qualification which adheres to the National Curriculum.
    Length of course: 1 Year full time
    Entry Age: 16+
    Entry Requirements: Entry is by audition and interview

    Course Aims and Objectives:

    The course is tailored to offer students who show potential in dance but require a greater level of technical ability to undertake full time training at a vocational college. The course therefore includes in depth technical training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Jazz (Commercial and Traditional), Modern, Pilates, Singing and Drama techniques. The students will work towards specific performance projects each term and will undertake one multi functional research project to connect their theoretical knowledge of dance and theatre with their practical skills. Master classes and workshops from guest lecturers will enhance their awareness of the current industry. Students will also be offered classes in audition technique and individual tutorials to prepare them for future auditions.

    Career Progression:


    Upon graduation our course will give the students the required qualifications to lead onto further training within the performing arts. Students on the Foundation Course will automatically be offered an audition for the three year full time Centre Pointe Vocational Diploma Course.
